Welcome to a small Boer goat operation located approximately 1 hour southwest of Wheeling, WV in the rolling hills of Monroe County, Ohio. The first kids hit the ground in April 2004 & we’ve never looked back.
The herd consists of Registered full bloods with only 1 percentage doe remaining. My does represent some of the best bloodlines available. We are focusing on producing red & paint boers while not sacrificing any confirmation or hardiness of the traditional boer. So far it appears we are successful.
The demand for goat meat in the United States is increasing but so are production costs, ie. fuel & feed. To be successful each producer must build a herd with stock that is hardy, kids easily, obtains high weight gain and shows uniform carcass yields. Full blooded quality Boers offer all these attributes. Along with my father, Robert Hull in Buckhannon, WV, we are working to offer these animals to both states. So whether your need is breeding stock or 4H wethers, our animals will work for you.
Our goal is to raise animals in as natural setting as possible. We raise guineas, as well as boers, & have added chickens & an orchard to combat parasites, our personal food costs & reduce our burden on this planet.
Also SLD Farm serves as a second chance for neglected & abused animals. Horses, goats, dogs, cats & ferrets have all found a safe haven here while they await their forever home.
